Laura and Andy really did make Talbot Heath their venue by keeping their winter wedding in true and very beautiful 1920s style which really suited the style of this unique Bournemouth venue. Laura looked totally stunning in her 1920s style beaded gown with beautiful bespoke made headpiece by Pheather Sue and fur wrap. Laura’s bridesmaids were elegant in matching emerald green gowns and hand beaded hair combs.

Guests were treated to a civil ceremony followed by a beautiful blessing, live music and hymns. A drinks and canape reception with winter canapes and spiced warm cider was then served followed by a champagne afternoon tea set out on long tables throughout The Great Hall which looked incredible. In the evening guests danced the night away and helped the couple celebrate and they left to a lovely send off from family and friends

We were thrilled to work with Laura and Andy and their families to help them create an amazing day and hopefully exactly what they wanted.

Here is what Laura had to say about her wedding experience with us:

“We got engaged in October 2014 and despite living in Chester we knew we wanted to get home near my family in Dorset. We had a few challenges: find somewhere big enough for around a 100 guests for the whole day, something that would be suitable for a December wedding (we did have on venue rather cheekily ask if we would consider changing our date!). We also had the added (but lovely) complication of my identical twin sister getting married in the same year and we were trying to keep our weddings as distinct as possible.

My mum stumbled upon Talbot Heath so we booked a viewing, Andy was really apprehensive, his head was filled with old, smelly sports halls but the minute we entered the grounds we were blown away by how beautiful Talbot Heath was as a school and even looking at other venues throughout the day our thoughts kept going back to the gorgeous hall and beautiful gardens. We were also super impressed with Melanie’s professionalism and eagerness (especially as again, one venue suggested we could have a dead Christmas tree in our photos!)

With the venue booked (at an incredible price, might I add), the theme became clear, I’ve always loved vintage, especially the glamour of the 1920s and loved the idea of lots of glitter and candles at our reception. The January sales gave us lots of inspiration and from then on my mum’s guest bedroom smelt of fir trees thanks to the huge number of green candles we bought.

Around the same time, I found THE dress. Unlike a lot of brides, I hated dress shopping but even in an overly bright, busy Debenhams changing room with an ill-fitting dress I knew there was something special about Phase Eight’s Hope dress with all its embellishments, sequins and beautiful draped top. The morning of the wedding when I stepped in to it I felt amazing, so sophisticated and beautiful.

From there, the theme really came in to it’s own, with an art deco dress and beautiful vintage venue, we ran with it. Andy got a very dapper 3 piece tweed suit, and my super talented friend Sophia made the most amazing flapper girl inspired headbands- Pheather Sue.

I loved wedding planning and couldn’t wait to see it all come together, but was blown away by just how beautiful Talbot Heath looked once all the candles, ivy, fairy lights and decorations were added. Melanie and Lara worked so hard the day before putting everything together (and the turn around from ceremony to reception was absolutely astounding). Having set up a lot of the ceremony venue for my sister’s wedding it really did feel amazing the day before our big day to be able to go home, get my nails done and not have to think about it all!

Throughout our 14 months of planning the entire Bellissimo team were fantastic, everyone we spoke to was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and just so, so lovely. Nothing ever felt like it was too much for them and when we met with Melanie about 4 weeks before the wedding her attitude of “we can do that, we can sort that” was just so great at that point in wedding planning where I was exhausted with it all! Having their services included within the venue price was staggering! and we wouldn’t fail to recommend them to anyone! “

Thank you so much to Laura and Andy for sharing their thoughts about their wedding planning and their day with us. It was a real privilege to be a part of their day and a pleasure to meet them.
