When Abbi and Luke first got in touch with us about their wedding, it wasn’t because they were looking for a planner. They actually contacted our sister company, Beach Weddings Bournemouth http://www.beachweddingsbournemouth.co.uk/, looking for a venue to hold their legal wedding ceremony as their venue. Deans Court, isn’t licenced and they wanted to make a weekend of their celebrations, holding their main wedding day on the Saturday at Deans Court and then having a more intimate, legal ceremony the next morning on the beach. As their plans unfolded and being based in London, they decided they needed a little more assistance in the final few months and so got in touch again to ask us to help with the plans for their Saturday wedding. As a very professional couple, we weren’t at all surprised to find they were extremely organised when we met with them about 8 weeks before the wedding but they wanted to hand over all the plans and enjoy the final few weeks of build-up. From that point onwards, we became the main point of contact between all their suppliers, only occasionally having to ask them questions and avoiding them being disturbed by constant calls from all their different suppliers.
On the day, we were there to ensure the smooth arrival and set up of the suppliers and running of the day, from finding homes for their adorable hedgehog shaped cookie favours (made in the image of their two gorgeous pet hedgehogs!) to handing out paper planes for the guests to throw instead of confetti. The weather was glorious on the day of the wedding so we were able to hold their very personal, celebrant-led ceremony outside, by the lake, just as they had wanted followed by a prosecco-filled drinks reception on the South Lawn where guests enjoyed lawn games and delicious canapes. Continuing the quintessentially British feel of the day, Abbi and Luke chose Afternoon Tea for their wedding breakfast, which was served in the beautiful water-side marquee.
The weather was just as glorious on the Sunday for their legal wedding on the beach and a second dress, a London Routemaster bus ride from Wimborne to Bournemouth Beach and a ride in the funicular railway later, they were officially and legally married and back to the celebrations.
We really enjoyed being part of Abbi and Luke’s wedding and helping them plan their weekend of celebrations.
