Wedding favours are a popular aspect at a Wedding, however most people aren’t aware of the history. The centuries-old tradition is said to have originated in France where they were called ‘Bonbonnieres’. These were a small gift given to guests at weddings of high class and were typically a small box. These boxes were made of crystal or precious stones and traditionally full of sugared almonds. At this time, sugar was scarce and far higher in price as well as being seen as a luxury item which held medicinal properties. Nowadays, wedding favours are used for Bride and Groom’s to thank their guests for attending and sharing their special day with them. They are also meant to hold good luck and happiness.
We’ve put together a list of some fabulous but less traditional favours which we love!
